Period Villa

Chiswick

The substantial Victorian semi-detached villa required a new concept to connect its ground floor entertaining spaces with the lower ground kitchen and the garden for the modern family needs. The brief included a self contained lower ground guest bedroom and bathroom suite, rear kitchen extension, creating a terrace with steps down to the garden, an underground garden games room, landscaping connecting three levels, parking space for two cars, a discreet and easily accessible bike storage and interior design throughout including new bathrooms, bespoke joinery, furniture and furnishings. The owners had an extensive collection of art which they wanted to curate and display to complement the scheme.

The unique features like grand entrance, side bay windows and a 360º viewing tower were carefully restored and enhanced.

The front garden parterre planting, trees and hedge providing seasonal colour change was framed with brickwork edged York stone.

The stained oak Dutch weave diagonally laid parquet connects the reception and library via generous lobby with the lower ground floor.

Library leading to terrace and garden beyond.

The viewing tower was simply stripped repaired and decorated to not detract from the views.

In the more complex projects like this triple level garden, the rear kitchen extension and underground room a 3D model is a great way to help visualise the finished scheme and focus on making decisions leading to progress and completion.

The bespoke terrace steps lead down to the ground level side garden.

Sunken garden area leading to the rear kitchen extension, terrace and underground games room.

Semicircular feature wall with a cantilevered bench and a stone table.

Underground gym and games room with wide steps connecting it up to the sunken garden.
